Signet rings
Choosing a signet ring
The signet ring is an old idea worn a new way. The flat top can be round, oval, square or shield-shaped, plain for an initial or motif, or set with a stone, enamel or mother-of-pearl. Traditionally it goes on the little finger of the non-dominant hand, which is also why signets are cut in small sizes, but on the ring or index finger it becomes astatement piece.
Fit matters because the face has weight: a loose signet rotates and the face ends up under the finger. Measure carefully, or choose anadjustable signet. Pair a signet with a slimbandon the neighbouring finger rather than another wide ring. The face size, band width and materials are on each product page.
Which finger is a signet ring worn on?
Traditionally the little finger, but any finger works. On the little finger choose a small face; on the index or middle finger a larger face reads as a statement.
Can the signet be engraved?
Plain-faced signets can be engraved by any jeweller with the right equipment. The face size on the product page tells you how much room there is.
Why does my signet ring spin?
The face is heavier than the band, so a loose ring rotates. Size it snugly or choose an adjustable design and close it to fit.
