Layered necklaces

Choosing a layered necklace

A layered necklace does the styling for you. The strands are spaced so that the shortest sits like achokerat the base of the neck, the middle one at collarbone length and the longest a few centimetres below, and because they share one clasp they never twist around each other the way separate necklaces do.

Choose a set with a single small pendant or coin on one strand if you want a focal point, or three plain chains for a softer effect. Sets work best over a plain top or an open collar. If you already own achain necklaceyou love, a two-strand set can be added around it. Lengths of each strand are listed on the product page.

Do the strands tangle?

Far less than separate necklaces, because they share one clasp and are spaced by design. Fasten the clasp and store the set flat and it will stay in order.

Can I add my own necklace to a layered set?

Yes. Pick a length at least 5 cm longer or shorter than the strands in the set so it does not sit on top of another chain.

What neckline suits a layered necklace?

A crew neck, a V-neck or an open collar all work. Avoid busy prints and high, decorated necklines, which compete with the strands.
