Choosing drop earrings
Drop length is the choice to make. A 15–25 mm drop moves without swinging and works at the office; 30–50 mm shows with hair up or a bare neckline; threaders and chain drops of 60 mm or more are for evenings. Pearl and stone drops read as classic, geometric bars and discs as modern. Most drops hang from a post with a butterfly back or from a hook.
Drops andhoopsboth hang below the lobe, but a drop is narrow and vertical, so it suits round faces and short hair particularly well. Keep the necklace short or skip it when the drop is long, and pair long drops with an updo. If you want the vertical line without a piercing, an earclimberruns the other way, up the lobe. Drop length, weight and closure are on each product page.
How long should drop earrings be?
15–25 mm for daily wear, 30–50 mm for a visible drop, 60 mm and more for evenings. Length is listed per pair on the product page.
Do drop earrings pull on the lobe?
Light drops of a few grams do not. Check the weight on the product page and choose posts with butterfly backs for the most secure hold.
Which necklace goes with long drops?
A short choker or none. Long drops and long necklaces compete for the same space.
