Care
How to care for stainless steel jewellery
June 24, 2026 · 4 min read
Care needs vary with the steel grade, plating and decorative materials used in a piece. Check the product page first, then use this conservative routine unless the item's instructions say otherwise.
Everyday wear
Remove jewellery before showering, swimming, exercise or cleaning. This reduces contact with chlorine, salt, perspiration, cosmetics and cleaning products that may affect a surface or finish.
For gold-toned or other plated pieces, a couple of small habits help protect the finish:
- Put jewellery on after perfume, lotion and hairspray — not before. Chemicals are the main thing that dulls plating over time.
- Avoid prolonged contact with harsh cleaning products like bleach.
Cleaning
To clean, simply wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. For a deeper clean, use warm water with a tiny amount of mild soap, rub gently with your fingers or a soft cloth, rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cloths, toothpaste and harsh chemical jewellery dips, which can scratch or wear the finish.
Storage
- Store pieces separately so they don't scratch each other — the gift box or a soft pouch is ideal.
- Keep them dry and wipe away moisture promptly.
- For necklaces, fasten the clasp before storing to prevent tangling.

A catalogue can contain different materials and finishes, so one care claim should not be applied to every piece. Review the exact item's specifications and contact us if anything is unclear.
